Happy Spring,

As we continue in this season of Lent, we continue to reflect and take time for the world around us. On Sundays we are focusing on how we are renewed in mercy. We are following the threads of God’s grace for the Psalms to today. When we reflect on what has been, with the clarity of present knowledge, we can see God’s continued faithfulness. This gives us hope as we move into the future knowing that the character of God does not change, so God will continue to be faithful.

                  It is so easy to be distracted by all the things going on in the world. Not just the wider world but all of the things that make up our daily living. Some of those things can be amazing joys. Some of things cause deep heartache especially when we don’t know a positive outcome is possible. In this season we take extra time to focus on God’s love and recenter ourselves on the big picture of the hope we all have. It is worth it to take the time.

                  Taking time might look different for each of us. To intentionally carve out time I have remove social media apps from my phone. I am not fasting from social media, but I am being intentional in my time. I now must go to my computer or pick up my tablet to check on what is happening on social media. This has shifted how I spend my time. I did not realize how often I pick up my phone and mindlessly scroll. Now when I encounter that habit I either take time to pray or open the Bible Gateway app and read scripture. This has made a difference in the first few days, we will see if this is a change I keep at the end of Lent.

Things coming up: a book study – Better Ways to Read the Bible by Zach W Lambert – meeting Sunday nights at 5:00 pm to discuss a chapter a week (skipping March 15th for Spring break).

-              Palm Sunday – March 29th – Come and way Palms as we enter into Holy week together

-              The Women of the Cross – April 1st at 7:00pm – an hour performance brought to us by La Juanta UMC

-              Easter – Sunrise – Hike Two Buttes meet at 6:00am or meet at Old Prowers Bridge at 6:30am.  – Bring a dish Brunch at 9:00am – Worship at 10:00am
